Access control in Basel replaces or complements the traditional key with electronic permissions. The advantage is quickly explained: a lost badge is blocked with a click of the mouse instead of an entire lock cylinder having to be replaced. And you can see at any time which person is allowed to open which doors at which times.
Wingsecurity plans and installs 2N access control and door communication systems for office buildings, commercial businesses, residential properties and institutions in Basel and the region. On request, we integrate the technology with reception, alarm systems and video surveillance.
Access by badge, smartphone, PIN or fingerprint
2N offers IP door intercoms and access readers that can be combined in a modular way. Which identification method makes sense depends on the user group and the required security level:
- RFID badge or key fob: tried and tested, easy to distribute and to block
- Smartphone via Bluetooth: no additional credential needed, and permissions can be granted remotely
- PIN code: practical for suppliers, cleaning staff or temporary access
- Fingerprint: for areas where access credentials should not be passed on
- Video intercom: see and speak to visitors and open the door remotely
Managing permissions centrally
Permissions are maintained centrally in management software: people, groups, doors and time profiles. This way, the cleaning team only has access in the evening, suppliers only to the loading bay and employees only to the floors they need. New employees are added in just a few steps, and leavers are blocked immediately.
Access events are logged. These logs are personal data: we recommend clearly defining who may view them and how long they are kept, and informing employees transparently about this. Biometric methods such as fingerprints call for particular care, as biometric data that uniquely identifies a person is considered sensitive personal data under the Federal Act on Data Protection (Art. 5 let. c). We are happy to show you alternatives where biometrics are not necessary.
Working together with reception and security technology
Access control is at its strongest when it is part of an overall concept: the reception service issues visitor badges with time-limited permissions, the alarm system is automatically disarmed on entry, and video surveillance shows who is ringing at the door.
Existing doors can often be retrofitted too — with electric door openers, motorised locks or turnstiles. We check on site what is technically possible with your doors and what adjustments are required for fire doors and escape route doors.
What we need for planning
The following information helps us with an initial assessment:
- Number and type of doors (main entrance, floors, plant rooms, underground car park)
- Number of users and visitors per day
- Preferred identification methods and any existing badges
- Existing locking system, door intercom or network infrastructure
- Who will manage the permissions in future
